The Freedom Gallery
In 2024, Art x Love was engaged by Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes (JAMGL) to create the History Wall for their board room, the Groundbreaking display for their main entrance, and the Magna Carta illustration for the Freedom Gallery. When we travelled to their building to mine their archives we conducted a preliminary site review of the Freedom Gallery to assess the strategic, design, and production needs of the space for an interactive museum-quality display dedicated to the articles of freedom: The Magna Carta, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
In 2025, Art x Love was engaged to create the Freedom Gallery. Through a series of iterative phases we explored, developed, and refined the design, text, and interactive features for each display. Once we were aligned on our design and vision, Art x Love engaged several production partners to secure quotes for fabrication and installation. We partnered with Communication Exhibits, Inc. (CEI) to produce each display, and worked with their team to optimize the design for installation and interactivity. This included the design of sliding panels, lifting panels, rotating paddles, and a light-up map of the Battles of the American Revolution with sounds of the American Revolution.
Mac travelled to Grand Rapids to assist CEI with the installation, and was thrilled to see JAMGL staff immediately embrace and play with each display. The Magna Carta display focuses on the historic context and caste system of the 13th Century that led to its creation. The Declaration of Independence display focuses on colonial taxation and the subsequent war for independence. The Constitution display focuses on the establishment and principles of the federal government. The Bill of Rights display focuses on the first 10 amendments and 4 more that continue to shape and inspire our country.
At a time of civil unrest and political polarization, we are deeply grateful to have had this opportunity to support Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes and its mission to inspire and prepare young people for economic success in a global economy through programs focused on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.
