Garden of Hope
In 2023, Art x Love was engaged by Hope & Healing: Survivor Resource Center of Medina & Summit County to partner on a placemaking and public art project that would transform the edge of their property into peaceful and thriving arts garden. We toured the site and put together a proposal with an iterative and itemized approach as a point of reference for future grant applications.
In the summer of 2024, we were reengaged to develop mural concepts for the new fence, from which a floral concept was selected for collaborative mural production. Mac Love served as lead artist and prepared the area for collaborative mural production. This included installing our Little Cuyahoga collaborative mural, and extending the mural concept to the full-length of the garden wall.
A day was organized for Hope & Healing’s guests and staff to collaboratively paint the mural, which Mac returned to finish the following week. It’s hard to describe how impactful this transformation has been. The noise of nearby traffic has been replaced with the flowing sound of nearby river and leaves. What had seemed like a dark and neglected corridor now feels like a vibrant and inviting place for people to relax and heal. The Garden of Hope is oasis that empowerssurvivors of violence to live independent, healthy and safe lives
