King Centennial Murals

In 2024, Art x Love was engaged by Akron Public School’s King CLC PTA to produce a collaborative mural experience in recognition of the school’s 100 year anniversary for their Earth Day Celebration. We worked with the PTA to explore a range of options for the occasion, and Mac designed two modular murals inspired by the school’s logo and iconic emerald.

The King CLC Earth Day celebration was sunny andy windy blast, with dozens of families, students, and staff members participating in the collaborative mural experience. The two 4’x4’ panels were filled with vibrant colors and brushstrokes in several hours. We packed up the modular mural panels and brought them back to the studio, where Mac redrew the original design and completed the murals while preserving everyone’s marks. The panels were then finished with a marine-grade anti-graffiti coating.

The completed King CLC Anniversary murals were showcased at graduation and installed in time for the next school year. You can find one greeting visitors today at the main entrance to King CLC, and the other inside where it is staged at various locations for different events.
