Zashin & Rich

In 2019, Art x Love was engaged by Zashin & Rich, a law firm located in the Ernst & Young building at Cleveland’s Flats East Bank, to create a chalk mural underneath the Main Ave. Bridge. For the previous five years, Mac had been creating and maintaining large-scale murals in the area, transforming this once dark and forbidding corridor into a vibrant destination for tourists and business.

The Zashin & Rich commission was conceived as four “Z” letterform chalk murals celebrating pillars of local pride. More than a dozen concepts were developed, and the final four selections were (1) Baseball: our national pastime, (2) Ohio: go Browns!, (3) Earth: our diverse environment, and (4) Rock & Role: music and culture.

Creation of this mural also afforded Mac the opportunity to restore and expand on the Believeland chalk murals he had started creating in 2014. Click the button below to see more examples from this transformative placemaking and public art project.
