Awesometown
In 2009, Mac created a new series of holographic paintings which included Awesometown, which was inspired by the pilot for a sketch comedy show by The Lonely Island team on Fox that was never picked up and never aired. The comedy was irreverent, creative, and groundbreaking. “I thought there was something special and unique about the energy of the show,” says Mac. “I thought it would be cool to try to create a work of art that was similarly juxtaposed against cultural and media norms. I was pleasantly surprised as the painting started to develop and took inspiration from Friedensreich Hundertwasser, one of my mother’s favorite painters.”
