A Daisy Through Concrete

Art

As one of 20 graffiti artists selected for Cleveland’s Shaken, Not Stirred show, Mac created 20 Years to Become a Daisy Through Concrete. This 4-inch round graffiti painting with holographic paper collage on sintra panel was intentionally designed to test Mac’s ability to create a dynamic graffiti art experience at a small scale. The vintage frame that holds the painting was the catalyst for this decision. It’s heavy, hardcore, and has been in his possession for 20 years.

“Because of the unique size and shape of the frame, I always wanted to create something very unique and special for it,” says Mac. “I used to think about putting a holographic rose inside, but as the deadline for this show neared, a daisy through concrete seemed a more fitting idea and symbol for these times we live in. To me, it’s a reflection on hard won wisdom – the kind that takes a lifetime, or in this case, 20 years to earn.”

20 Years to Become a Daisy Through Concrete will be on display at Graffiti Heart as part of their 2nd annual Street Heart Jam, opening May 16th from 3:00-8:00 PM. This is a free and family-friendly event featuring many of the best graffiti artists in region. Check it out!
