Knight Cities Challenge

@PLAY AKRON

In 2017, Art x Love was awarded a $240k Knight Cities grant to produce @PLAY Akron; a 24-neighborhood series of interactive art challenges strategically designed to foster civic engagement and encourage deeper community connections. In 18 months, our team mapped every street in Akron’s 24 neighborhoods, interviewed thousands of residents, and produced 98 unique initiatives that generated more than 100 murals and 50 placemaking transformations in collaboration with 168 local artists and more than 10,000 residents.
