We kicked off @PLAY Middlebury by interviewing local leaders, stakeholders, organizers, and residents. We biked every street in the neighborhood and surveyed for challenges and opportunities. We identified twelve concepts that could impact local quality of life. We polled 112 residents and learned that the following concepts were the most compelling:

  1. Murals
  2. Creative Seating
  3. Custom Basketballs

Based on research and neighborhood feedback, we decided to create a temporary street art district using panels that could be deployed upon completion at strategic locations across the neighborhood. We also created 50 Akron-branded basketballs with invitations to our opening event, Amplify Akron, and left them next to outdoor basketball hoops across the neighborhood.
